I’m Phos and I’m creating this campain to support my friend and our community member S, based in Narrm (so called “melbourne”)

S has been unhoused for 10 years, and in 2024 finally secured housing with the help of community support. She have survived serious domestic violence, has a number of health issues and her health has been in bad shape from abuse, being unhoused as well as pushing herself to make money when she needs to stay in bed and rest. She also has a dog that needs meds to manage health conditions. She only recently got on Centrelink after a long process, having gone many years without any financial support from the government, and now she still gets very little payments that’s far from enough for a chronically ill human.

She’s often in pain, her heart and legs are not in good condition, and she often passed out when trying to make money. But she pushes herself because she doesn’t feel like there’s another option. She often faces impossible choices like wether to pay rent or get meds, or go out and put herself in hospital because of it or stay in and rest and make no money, and the stress only makes things worse. Recently, she had to go without medication for weeks due to lack of funds which all makes things worse in the long run.

Her situation is an intersectional systematic failure of society.

Right now, she needs funds to cover owed rent and vet costs for doggo. Aside from this, her ongoing expenses are weekly rent, weekly meds for doggo, and meds for herself refilled every 4 weeks, plus food etc.

Despite what she’s facing, S is so sweet and joyful. She enjoys good weather, cheers me up when I’m down, and stands up for community and protects others whenever the need arises around her. She cleans up the area she stays in and she has many friends including her new neighbours and some shop keepers and workers in the CBD. Because of our support, she said it’s easier for her to not give up hope.

Thank you all who have supported so far and future supporters. Thank you for divesting from individualism and capitalism, taking action, doing something that makes a real impact with every dollar goes to the person in need (aside from chuffed fees lol), and S and I are very grateful.
